Recoil sensor setup

Install your recoil sensor in one click.

The TRT recoil sensor runs on an M5Stack module. Flash it once over USB — straight from this page, no software to install. After that, everything happens wirelessly over Bluetooth from the TRT app.

Before you start

Note: flashing works in Chrome or Edge on a computer. It is not supported in Safari or on iPhone/iPad (the browser there can't talk to USB). You only need the computer for this one-time step — after that the app on your phone does the rest.

Install TRT Recoil firmware

Plug the M5Stack into your computer, then click:

Your browser can't flash over USB. Please open this page in Chrome or Edge on a computer. USB access was blocked. Reload the page and allow the connection when asked.

Latest firmware: — check the version shown on your device's screen and reflash if it's older.

When the port list appears, choose the entry for your M5Stack (often shown as CP210x, CH9102 or USB Serial), then follow the on-screen prompts. Takes about a minute.

Then connect it in the app

Prefer M5Burner? (alternative method)
  1. Download M5Burner from m5stack.com and open it.
  2. Search for “TRT Recoil” in the firmware list.
  3. Connect the M5Stack over USB, pick its port, and click Burn.

This does the same thing as the button above — use whichever you prefer.

Trouble connecting?
  1. Use a data USB-C cable, not a charge-only one, and a direct port (avoid cheap hubs).
  2. Close other programs that may hold the serial port (Arduino IDE, serial monitors, M5Burner).
  3. On some computers you may need a one-time USB-serial driver (CP210x or CH9102) — install it, replug, and reload this page.
